The purpose of the Texas Billfish Series is to recognize the top team on the Texas Gulf Coast as well as to showcase the incredible fishing we have in Texas.
Spanning three prestigious tournaments across the summer season, the Texas Billfish Series brings together the finest anglers and crews to compete for the ultimate title on the Gulf Coast. Each tournament contributes to a cumulative points system that determines the overall series champion.

Tournament Stops
Three stops across the Texas Gulf Coast, each contributing to the cumulative series standings.
Lone Star Shootout
The series kicks off with the Lone Star Shootout, one of the most exciting billfish tournaments on the Texas coast. Teams battle it out in the deep blue waters for the first round of series points.
TIFT
Texas International Fishing Tournament
The legendary Texas International Fishing Tournament at Port Isabel and South Padre Island serves as the second stop. This historic tournament has been a cornerstone of Texas fishing culture for decades.
Texas Women Anglers Tournament
The series finale features the Texas Women Anglers Tournament, closing out the season with fierce competition and determining the overall series champion.
Scoring System
Points are awarded for each billfish released during tournament competition. Accumulate points across all three stops to claim the series title.
Blue Marlin
The king of billfish. Releasing a Blue Marlin earns the highest point value in the series.
White Marlin
A prized catch on the Gulf Coast. White Marlin releases contribute significantly to team standings.
Sailfish
Known for their spectacular aerial displays. Sailfish releases add valuable points to your total.
Daily Grand Slam
Release all three species in a single day to earn this prestigious bonus.

Series Rules
Official Tournament Rules
All scoring and rules will be based off of each tournament's official results. Each tournament operates under its own established ruleset.
Release-Based Scoring
The Texas Billfish Series is a release-based tournament. Points are awarded for the catch and release of Blue Marlin, White Marlin, and Sailfish.
Cumulative Points
Teams accumulate points across all three tournament stops. The team with the highest total points at the end of the series is crowned champion.
Team Eligibility
Teams must be registered and participate in the individual tournaments to earn series points. Points are tracked per team across all stops.
